It will only be possible to restructure the electricity market if the necessary infrastructure is available. The importance of the future-oriented planning of the electricity networks is currently the centre of focus of the ongoing debate on the initiative calling for the complete withdrawal from nuclear energy use and the unscheduled decommissioning of nuclear power plants. The successful planning and implementation of the future electricity infrastructure will depend on close cooperation between national grid operator Swissgrid, the involved authorities, distribution network operators, the federal government, the cantons, industry associations, the regulator and other major stakeholders.

The objective of the 5th Swissgrid Network Forum to be held on Thursday 18 May 2017 at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne is to discuss Switzerland’s future electricity infrastructure with all involved players. Alongside various speeches and presentations, the focus of this Forum will be on dialogue.
